Photo Editing Software

Editing software for landscape photography

With digital capture now dominating as a photographic format and camera file capturing systems becoming more complex, photographers are even more reliant on having the best photo editing software for landscape photography than ever.

For many years Adobe’ s Photoshop and Lightroom have been the programs of choice for post shoot processing.

These highly regarded and powerful systems are widely used and become an essential extension to the system of capturing and processing images.

Using these systems can seem challenging, but once you have studied and grasped the basic functionality of each system, processing images just becomes
quicker and quicker with impressive results.

Adobe logoRecognising the explosive rise of photographers going digital and wanting to use its products, Adobe responded with new pricing structures several years ago and now make their software available on a subscription basis rather than having to pay for everything in one go.

This is through their Creative Cloud platform. Pricing is more affordable than you might expect and Adobe have recently introduced a cheaper package just aimed at the needs of photographers.

You can review full details and pricing options here.

Plug in filters for Photoshop and Lightroom

Many photographers find themselves needing to make similar adjustments to numerous images such sharpness, reducing noise levels or converting/enhancing colours.

Whilst these can be achieved through individual controls in programs and actions created to repeat these, a lot of professional photographers will use a digital filter system called the Google Nik Collection. These digital plug in filters are currently free to download and offer impressive results within Adobe software.

Beyond photo editing software – Recovery programs

One piece of software that all too often gets overlooked until there is a problem is recovery software for memory cards. Whilst most memory card systems have improved no end over recent years, it is still however a sad reality that cards can become corrupted, which in many situations will mean losing your images and the data from your memory card.

On professional grade cards from SanDisk and Lexar, a voucher is provided to download their own version of recovery software.
